A Simple Everyday Makeup Look

For Day 2 of Makeup Week, I wanted to show you my "everyday makeup" routine. This is what I tend to wear when I don't feel like doing anything too crazy... which is most of the time. In all honesty, most days I stick to mascara and powder when I'm just staying home or running errands. My big concerns when it comes to my face is my red nose and cheeks. These pictures don't do them justice; my nose looks like I permanently have a cold. My other concern which is one I only care about 4% of the time is that I look way younger without makeup. Like, I get asked what college I'll be going to next year. This is something I hope to enjoy in the future, but for now I'd like to at least look 21 when I'm out and about in this college town.

My biggest advice for you when you're trying to develop an "everyday" routine is to do what feels best for you. Some women need a full face of makeup, while others are fine with a few things to accentuate their eyes or lips. Someone else's 'natural' doesn't have to be yours! For example, I love winger liner and lots of mascara. That's about as heavy as my makeup gets on a regular basis, but it's also what I feel most comfortable in. Experiment and see what you like best!

Pretty much everything I used is from the drugstore/Target with the exception of the eyeshadow palettes. I'm pretty snobby about drugstore makeup -- I won't use it unless it performs like how I expect it to. Especially nowadays with drugstore makeup inching up higher and higher in price, it better be good!

So without further ado... let's move on with the makeup routine!

1. This L'Oreal BB Cream is a recent addition to my makeup collection and I'm absolutely lovin' it. It comes out of the tube as a whiteish cream and when you start to rub it in, little beads of color burst. Kind of gimmicky, but I like it :) For this tutorial, I tried blending it in with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush because I didn't want to get my hands all gross, but I think blending it in with my hands works even better.

2. Time for concealer! I've been loving the Maybelline Fit Me one lately. It's more of a liquidy concealer (as opposed to a thicker one used to cover blemishes) which makes it easy to work with. Here, I dabbed some under my eyes and all over my nose, and then blended it in using patting motions with my Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush.
3. Next, I added this Milani Eyeshadow Primer all across my lids. It works great to prevent creasing! I need this stuff in the summer time, but if you don't have a problem with creasing you probably don't need this stuff.

4. This eyeshadow single from Wet N' Wild (awful name, but they have some great products) in Creme Brulee is perfect for an all over lid color. It's actually a lot lighter than pictured above -- see it here instead. I blended it all over using a fluffy crease brush from Coastal Scents.
5. Time to break out my favorite eyeshadow palette of all time, the original Naked Palette by Urban Decay. I got it a few years ago and cringed at the price, but I use it so regularly that it was definitely worth it. If you love neutral colors and want to splurge, you have to try this one out!

I mixed the colors "Naked" and "Buck" on that same fluffy crease brush and blended it lightly into my crease to give it a little definition. Nothing too cray!

6. I have yet to find a brow pencil that matches my eyebrow color. All of them end up looking way too red! So instead, I stick to powder for filling in any sparse areas. This is just a single color from Inglot that I got ages ago. I put a little on a small brush and lightly pat it through. Then, I comb through them with a spoolie.
7. I am so happy a drugstore brand came out with a nude eyeliner pencil. They do wonders to brighten up your eye when you put it in your waterline! I use the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Liner in Nude. I like to think of it as concealer for your eyeballs because it masks any redness!

For my winged eyeliner, I used the Jordana Fabuliner in Black. It has a felt tip which makes application super easy. It's very forgiving, too; usually I have to clean up my lines with a q-tip and it doesn't get too smudgy after I do so.

8. Time for my favorite part: mascara! I curled my lashes using a curler from ELF and applied a few coats of Almay's Get Up & Grow Mascara to both my upper and lower lashes. Love me some full lashes ;)
9. Almost done! It's time to smile to find the apples of your cheeks and apply your favorite blush. Here I'm using Jordana's Powder Blush in Coral Radiance. I think it's a great dupe for everyone's cult-favorite blush with the risque name! I like using a duo fiber brush like this one from Eco Tools so that I don't accidentally apply too much.

10. Finally, it's time to powder. One of my favorite YouTubers, Tati, recommended this Coty Airspun Powder on her channel earlier this year and I was smitten to find it at 75% off during CVS' Semi-Annual Beauty Sale. It kind of has a grandma perfume-y smell too it, but it fades quickly. I use a big fluffy brush to pat it all over my t-zone.
Voila! An easy, natural look suitable for everyday wear. I'm a big fan of lip balm on a day-to-day basis and my current favorite is from Palmer's because a) it has some sunscreen in it and b) it smells like chocolate!

What does your daily makeup routine include? Any products I should be checking out?
