About

Hi, and thanks for stopping by my little spot on the Internet! I’m Kayla, a youngish newlywed anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first baby girl this fall.

I’m a world traveler turned fashion student turned horticulture graduate turned stay at home wife and future mom. My early college years were spent abroad and in New York City. For whatever reason, I felt this itch to come back down to Texas and attend a much larger university where “howdy” is the typical greeting around town and football pretty much rules your life from August-December. Turns out it was all part of God’s plan for me; a year after living here, I met my best friend and soul mate, a Texan by blood who I’m pretty darn sure I wouldn’t have ever run into up North.

I started The Sweet Wonder in January 2014 after being an avid blog reader since high school. I wanted to start a sort of visual diary to document this unexpected stage in my life so that I could share my experiences with others. When life throws you a curve ball, you just kind of have to go with it and see where you end up. I also love meeting new people and wanted a way to connect with y’all all over the world!

I love a lot of things. Most of these things revolve around food. Pizza will always be my favorite (thin crust, fresh mozzarella and basil) but Indian is a close second. When I’m not pregnant, I love a good glass of wine or margarita. Or beer if it’s football season.

Non-food and drink favorites include learning more about my Catholic faith, getting crafty, and marathoning television shows. My all time favorites are The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Breaking Bad.

Thanks for stopping by! So nice to meet you.

  1. Congrats on the pregnancy! I just found your blog via other blogs and am going to poke around a bit. Fashion- horticulture is an interesting move, so is NYC - Texas, but I am glad you said these were the smart choices! God Bless and Happy Blogging!
